ACTION NARRATIVE 3:18:13 PM CHAIR KURT OLSON called the House Labor and Commerce Standing Committee meeting to order at 3:18 p.m. Representatives Coghill, Holmes, Lynn, Neuman, and Olson were present at the call to order. HJR 16-DISABLED VETERANS PROCUREMENT PREFERENCE 3:18:22 PM CHAIR OLSON announced that the first order of business would be HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 16, Relating to federal procurement preferences for small businesses in the state that are owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans. [Public testimony was previously closed on HJR 16.] 3:18:59 PM REPRESENTATIVE COGHILL made a motion to adopt the proposed committee substitute (CS) for HJR 16, Version 26-LS0551\R, Bannister, 4/2/09, as the work draft. There being no objection, Version R was before the committee. 3:19:17 PM SANDRA WILSON, Staff, Representative Carl Gatto, Alaska State Legislature, stated that copies of the resolution are to be sent to various parties in Washington D.C. including the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs. However, General Shinseki's predecessor was listed in HJR 16. She explained that the Honorable Eric K. Shinseki is listed in Version R as the current U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. 3:19:45 PM REPRESENTATIVE NEUMAN moved to report the CSHJR 16, Version 26- LS0551\R, Bannister, 4/2/09, out of committee with individual recommendations and the accompanying fiscal note.
