CSHB 85 (FIN) was REPORTED out of Committee with a "do pass" recommendation and a previously published fiscal note: FN#1(DEC) 8:44:06 AM HOUSE BILL NO. 85 "An Act extending the termination date of the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors; and providing for an effective date." KONRAD JACKSON, STAFF, SENATOR OLSON explained that HB 85 extends the date of the termination date for the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors. Each year when board's sunset it is followed by a legislative audit review of the board processes and how the board has handled procedures. There has been a request of extension of eight years. Co-Chair Stoltze asked if the sponsor had any comments on the proposed committee substitute that reflects a minor change. Mr. Jackson indicated the sponsor has no comments on the proposed committee substitute. JOHN COAN, STAFF, CO-CHAIR BILL STOLTZE explained the committee substitute, version S, adds an oversight to maintain the status quo of a temporary landscape architect position on the board and on voting capacity. This is found on pages 1-2, Sections 2 and 3. Section 2 is the eight year extension and Section 3 is transition language which ties up the process. 8:47:44 AM HARLEY HIGHTOWER, BOARD OF ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS testified via teleconference indicated that Boyd Brownfield, Chairman of the Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors had submitted written testimony to the committee. Mr. Hightower offered to answer any questions. Co-Chair Stoltze observed this was a straight forward bill. He indicated that the committee had been looking at an associated issue, but it was decided to let the bill stand alone. Co-Chair Stoltze closed public testimony. 8:48:57 AM Co-Chair Stoltze referred to the fiscal note from the Department of Economic Development reflecting the costs in the budget. 8:49:21 AM Co-Chair Hawker MOVED to ADOPT CSHB 85, Version 26-LS0420/S as a working document. There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered. Co-Chair Hawker MOVED to report CSHB 85 (FIN) out of Committee with individual recommendations and the accompanying fiscal note.
