CHAIRMAN MILLER brought HJR 1 (REPEAL OF REGULATIONS BY LEGISLATURE) before the committee as the first order of business. Hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR PEARCE moved and asked unanimous consent that HJR 1 be approved for calendaring. SENATOR DUNCAN objected, stating that he was not objecting to what the resolution attempts to do, but he believes there should be more discussion before calendaring constitutional amendments to give a better idea of where a lot of things are going. He cautioned that bringing it to the floor early may not meet with success. CHAIRMAN MILLER agreed and said that there are quite a few constitutional amendments and he does not anticipate any of them coming to the floor any time soon. SENATOR DUNCAN then removed his objection. There being no further objection, CHAIRMAN MILLER stated the motion carried.
