TAPE 96-2 (ON FILE IN LEGISLATIVE LIBRARY) The meeting was called to order by Senator Sharp at 4:10 p.m. All conferees were present. SUMMARY INFORMATION Before the committee was a draft FCCS SB 6, as well as a proposed amendment which would limit the amount fined for a traffic offense by a municipality to no more than the fine in the bail schedule established by the supreme court for the same traffic offense. Juanita Hensley, Chief of Driver Services, Department of Public Safety, was present and responded to questions from committee members on the proposed amendment. The amendment reads as follows: Section 3, page 2, line 22: After "law." insert a new subsection to read: (3) issue a citation for a traffic offense if the fine imposed for the municipal traffic offense is more than the fine imposed for the same traffic offense under the bail schedule established by the supreme court under AS 28.05.151(a). Senator Ellis moved adoption of the amendment. Representative Bunde objected and then removed his objection. There being no further objections, the amendment was adopted. Senator Rieger moved that FCCS SB 6, as amended, be passed out of committee. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. The meeting was adjourned at 4:37 p.m.
