CHAIR DENNIS EGAN called the Senate Transportation Standing                                                                   
Committee meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Present at the call to                                                                  
order were  Senators Dyson, French,  Bishop, Fairclough  and Chair

CHAIR EGAN announced SB 31 to be up for consideration.

SENATOR   GARY   STEVENS,  sponsor   of   SB  31,   Alaska   State                                                              
Legislature,  Juneau,  Alaska, said  this  is a  straight  forward                                                              
piece of  legislation to name a  small airstrip in Akhiok  the Jim                                                              
Andie and Robin Starrett Memorial Runway. It has no fiscal note.

SENATOR DYSON  moved to report  SB 31 from  committee to  the next                                                              
committee   of  referral  with   individual  recommendations   and                                                              
attached fiscal note(s).                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
SENATOR FAIRCLOUGH  objected to  ask if  anyone was in  opposition                                                              
to this.                                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
SENATOR STEVENS  answered that  everyone is  behind this;  the two                                                              
pilots are well  respected in the community and  they were willing                                                              
to pay for the signs.                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                                
SENATOR FAIRCLOUGH removed her objection.                                                                                       
                                                                                                                                
CHAIR  EGAN finding  no  further objection  announced  that SB  31                                                              
moved to the next committee or referral.
