CHAIRMAN KELLY stated Senators Pearce and Leman were present. He
noted the following bills need to be pre-approved by the Rules
Committee for calendaring upon referral.
SB 308-MARINE PASSENGER VESSELS
SENATOR LEMAN moved to pre-approve all versions of SB 308 with
individual recommendations and accompanying fiscal notes for
calendaring at the Chairman's discretion.
SENATOR PEARCE explained the bill was originally introduced as a
companion bill to Representative Kerttulla's bill which requires
reporting for the cruise ship lines in Alaska waters. The Senate
Finance Committee substitute adds a head tax to the bill.
SENATOR ELLIS asked the amount of the head tax.
SENATOR PEARCE answered it will be $5 which will be rebated back to
the five first ports of call.
CHAIRMAN KELLY announced that without objection, SB 308 has been
pre-approved for calendaring.
