Number 000
CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order
at 11:45 a.m. Present were Senators Pearce, Miller, Ellis and
Chairman Kelly.
SENATOR PEARCE moved to calendar HB 61-OVERTIME WAGE EXEMPTION
AIRLINE EMPLOYEES. There being no objection, the motion carried.
SENATOR PEARCE requested that HB 101-CORPORATE PUBLIC UTILITY
REINSTATEMENT be held in the Senate Rules Committee for another
day. There being no objection, deliberation of HB 101 was
postponed.
Number 195
SENATOR PEARCE asked the amount of the final fiscal note on SB 4.
BRETT HUBER, legislative aide to Senator Halford, sponsor of SB 4,
explained CSSB 4(FIN) transfers the new office to the Department of
Public Safety (DPS). The bill contains a delayed effective date so
that DPS can begin the process of purchasing equipment and readying
the offices for the new victims' advocate in FY00; the fiscal note
amount for that year is $73,000. Operations will begin in FY01;
the fiscal note amount for that, and future, years is $450,000.
The funding will come from the permanent fund dividends of
ineligible recipients who are incarcerated.
SENATOR PEARCE moved to calendar all versions of SB 4-OFFICE OF
VICTIMS' RIGHTS. There being no objection, the motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the committee,
CHAIRMAN KELLY adjourned the meeting at 11:48 a.m.
