TAPE 97-1, SIDE A
CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order
at 10:45 a.m. In attendance were Senators Leman, Torgerson and
Chairman Kelly.
CHAIRMAN KELLY brought HB 64 (NEW FERRY NAMED M.V. KENNICOTT)
before the committee as the only order of business.
MELINDA HOFSTAD , staff to Representative Bill Hudson, explained
there was a school contest to select a name for the Alaska Marine
Highway System's new ferry. There were a lot of good suggestions
and Kennicott was chosen as the winning entry. She noted there are
five other contest applicants who will be given recognition by
having their suggested names for the new ferry posted onboard the
Kennicott.
CHAIRMAN KELLY asked for a motion on HB 64.
SENATOR LEMAN moved that HB 64 be approved for calendaring at the
discretion of the Chairman. Hearing no objection, it was so
ordered.
There being no further business to come before the committee,
CHAIRMAN KELLY adjourned the meeting at 10:46 a.m.
