Expressing support for the development of a fiberboard plant in
Sitka; encouraging the Alaska Industrial Development and Export
Authority to continue its efforts to assist with that development;
and requesting the United States Forest Service to continue a
long-term timber purchase contract necessary to supply material to
the plant.

CHAIRMAN RICK HALFORD called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to
order at 9:18 a.m. After reviewing the committee agenda, he asked
for the will of the committee on the legislation.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SJR 51
(SUPPORT FOR SITKA FIBERBOARD PLANT) be approved for calendaring at
the Chair's discretion. SENATOR ZHAROFF objected and then removed
his objection. Hearing no further objection, it was so ordered.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 227 (MOTOR OR
VEHICLE RENTAL TERMS) be approved for calendaring at the Chair's
discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 255 (STATE TE
POLICY ON HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMT) be approved for calendaring at
the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 312
(SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION GRANT REVIEW) be approved for calendaring at
the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 355
(ADJUSTMENTS FOR DEFECTIVE SURVEY) be approved for calendaring at
the Chair's discretion. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
SENATOR RIEGER requested that a substantive hearing be held on SB
195 (PHYSICAL/OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY BOARDS EXT.). He said a problem m
has come up with that board and he thinks that the problem can be
resolved with an amendment to the bill. CHAIRMAN HALFORD stated SB
195 would be scheduled for a hearing at the next meeting of the
committee.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 9:21 a.m.
