The Senate Rules Committee was called to order by Chairman
Jacko at 1:31 p.m.
CHAIRMAN JACKO brought HB 120 (JURY LIST PREPARATION) before
the committee.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that HB 120
be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion.
Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN JACKO brought HB 152 (JURISDICTION OF MAGISTRATES)
before the committee.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that HB 120
be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion.
Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN JACKO introduced HJR 18 (ESTABLISH FISHING
COMMUNITY AT ADAK) as the next order of business.
SENATOR LITTLE referred to page 1, line 11, and asked for an
explanation of the phrase "state of the art model fishing
community on Adak Island." REPRESENTATIVE CARL MOSES,
prime sponsor of HJR 18, said it just emphasizes the
opportunity to vacate the island altogether, which he said
is a possibility. Right now, it is planned to reduce Navy
personnel on the base by approximately 50 percent by July
1994.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that HJR 18
be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion.
Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN JACKO brought SB 174 (EXEMPT CAB DRIVERS FROM
EMPLOYMENT LAWS) before the committee as the final order of
business.
SENATOR RIEGER moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 174
be approved for calendaring at the Chair's discretion.
SENATOR LITTLE objected. A voice vote was taken and the
Chair stated the motion had failed.
There being no further business to come before the
committee, the meeting was adjourned at 1:37 p.m.
