CHAIR LESIL MCGUIRE called the Senate Judiciary Standing
Committee meeting to order at 9:41 a.m. Present at the call to
order were Senators Wielechowski, Costello, Coghill, Micciche,
and Chair McGuire.
HB 200-ADOPTION OF CHILD IN STATE CUSTODY
9:42:08 AM
CHAIR MCGUIRE announced the consideration of HB 200. [This is
the second hearing and CSHB 200(HSS)am is before the committee.]
She asked for a motion to adopt the new fiscal note.
9:42:16 AM
SENATOR COGHILL moved to accept the new zero fiscal note from
the Court System. There was no objection.
CHAIR MCGUIRE reopened public testimony on HB 200.

NICOLE BORROMEO, Executive Vice President and General Counsel,
Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN), Fairbanks, Alaska thanked
the committee for its support of the bill.
CHAIR MCGUIRE requested AFN articulate its support for
Representative Gara's foster care bill, HB 27.
MS. BOBRROMEO stated she would be happy to call Senator Huggins
and President Meyer to voice support. She added, "It also is a
very good bill and is going to help transform our child welfare
system."

CHAIR MCGUIRE closed public testimony on HB 200 and solicited a
motion.

SENATOR COGHILL moved to report CSHB 200(HSS)am from committee
with individual recommendations and attached fiscal note(s).
CHAIR MCGUIRE announced that without objection, CSHB 200(HSS)am,
with the addition of the zero fiscal note from the Court system,
passed the Senate Judiciary Standing Committee.

Chair McGuire adjourned the Senate Judiciary Standing Committee
