Chairman Robin Taylor called the Judiciary Committee meeting
to order at 4:20 p.m.
SENATOR TAYLOR presented SB 44 (CIVIL LIABILITY FOR SKIING
ACCIDENTS) to committee for consideration.
SENATOR JACKO moved to adopt CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 44(JUD).
Without objections, it was so ordered.
SENATOR JACKO moved to pass CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 44(JUD)
(CIVIL LIABILITY FOR SKIING ACCIDENTS) from committee with
individual recommendations. The motion passed on a 3-1 vote.
SENATOR TAYLOR presented SB 101 (ELIGIBILITY FOR PUBLIC
ASSISTANCE) to committee for consideration.
SENATOR HALFORD moved to pass CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 101(HES)
(ELIGIBILITY FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE) from committee with
individual recommendations. The motion passed on a 3-1 vote.
SENATOR TAYLOR presented SB 99 (FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION OF
STATE GOVERNMENT) to committee for consideration.
SENATOR HALFORD moved to pass CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 99(JUD)
(FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION OF STATE GOVERNMENT) from committee
with individual recommendations. Without objections, so
ordered.
SENATOR TAYLOR presented SB 56 (ADMINISTRATION OF BUDGET
RESERVE FUND) and SB 113 (APPROPRIATION: BP SETTLEMENT TO
BUDGET RESERVE) to committee for consideration.
SENATOR HALFORD said the legislation, SB 56, was not needed,
since the settlement money had already been deposited in the
Constitutional Budget Reserve Fund. The bill remains in
committee.
SENATOR LITTLE moved to pass SENATE BILL NO. 113 (APPROP: BP
SETTLEMENT TO BUDGET RESERVE) from committee with individual
recommendations. The motion failed on a 2-2 vote, with
SENATOR LITTLE and SENATOR DONLEY voting in the affirmative.
SENATOR TAYLOR presented SJR 3 (LIMITING TERMS OF LEGISLATORS)
and led a discussion on the bill. Several committee members
indicated they had amendments to offer as soon as they were
completed. SENATOR TAYLOR explained a vote on the bill would
not be possible until next year, so there would be time for
the amendments. The bill remained in committee.
There being no further business to come before the committee,
the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
