Military and Veterans' Affairs meeting to order at 2:43 p.m.
Representatives Hall and Eischeid were present at the call to
order. Representatives Nelson, Gray, and Saddler arrived as the
meeting was in progress.
HJR 20-HIRING OF APPRENTICES/VETERANS

CHAIR EISCHEID announced that the first order of business would
be HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 20, Encouraging the United States
Congress to establish hiring goals for apprentices and veteran
apprentices.

CHAIR EISCHEID opened public testimony on HJR 20. After
ascertaining that there was no one who wished to testify, he
closed public testimony.

Professional Licensing, Department of Commerce, Community &
Economic Development, gave invited testimony on HB 158.
Shethanked the committee for hearing the proposed legislation
and provided a brief overview of its legislative intent.

REPRESENTATIVE HALL asked why it might be necessary to mirror
federal law in Alaska Statute.
MS. ROBB responded that the proposed legislation could reduce
confusion in professionals seeking licensure in Alaska.

REPRESENTATIVE SADDLER asked how military spouses might benefit
from the proposed legislation.
MS. ROBB said that she would follow-up with more information
later.
