CHAIRMAN HUDSON convened the meeting at 3:05 p.m. Chairman
Hudson welcomed Rep. Kott to the committee as the sponsor of
HB 342.
HB 342 - EXTEND TOURISM MARKETING COUNCIL
Number 035
REP. PETE KOTT read a sponsor statement which stated that HB
342 would extend the Alaska Tourism Marketing Council until
December 30, 1998. Rep. Kott noted that the Council is
charged with promoting the state as a destination and
promote all forms of travel to the state, including travel
by air, highway, and water.
REP. KOTT further stated that the Alaska Tourism Marketing
Council plays a substantial part in bringing over $52
million each year to the state of Alaska, and he hoped the
committee would support its extension.

CHAIRMAN HUDSON voiced his support for the Alaska Tourism
Marketing Council.

REP. PORTER moved for passage of HB 342 with individual
recommendations. There being no objection, it was so moved.
CHAIRMAN HUDSON adjourned the meeting at 3:12 p.m.
