Chair Mulder noted that the Committee would hold action on the
Department of Administration. There being NO OBJECTION, it was so
ordered.
Senator Donley MOVED to ADOPT the proposed conference committee
amounts for items 1 - 8 in the Department of Administration (see
motion sheets). Representative Davies asked that item 2 be held.
There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered.

exception of item 2.
Representative Davies spoke to item 2: Centralized Administrative
Services, Finance. He noted that item 2 was coupled with item 17.
He suggested that the House number be taken on item 2 and item
17.
Senator Donley MOVED to AMEND the motion to include item 17 and
move the Senate numbers for both items 2 and 17.
A roll call vote was taken on the motion to adopt the House
numbers for items 2 and 17.

amounts for items 25 - 28 in the Department of Administration

Senator Donley MOVED to ADOPT the Letter of Intent for the
Department of Administration: It is the intent of the Legislature
that the Division of Motor Vehicles maintain FY 01 services
levels from each of the office locations in the appropriate
structure. . There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered.
Senator Donley MOVED to ADOPT the proposed conference committee
amounts for items 1 - 11 in the Department of Community and
Economic Development, with the exception of item 3, which was
held open (see motion sheets). Senator Hoffman asked that items 1
and 2 remain open. There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered.

Senator Hoffman spoke to item 1: Community Assistance and
Economic Development. He observed that the House number would
provide an additional $100 thousand dollars and be matched on a
1:1 basis with federal dollars.
Chair Mulder emphasized that the intent is to try a level of
savings recognizing the prioritization towards education.

numbers for item 1.

Senator Hoffman spoke to item 2: Community Assistance and
Economic Development. He noted that the request affects two
positions: one in Bethel and one in Nome. The positions work on
rural economic development. The House number replaces federal
funds, which are no longer available with state funds.

Senator Donley MOVED to ADOPT intent language for the Department
of Community and Economic Development: It is the intent of the
Legislature that the Community Development Quota staff be moved
to Anchorage in recognition of services throughout Western
Alaska, and request by the public that is served by and pays for
this office. There being NO OBJECTION, it was so ordered.
Chair Mulder clarified that that funds source on the Department
of Administration in item 26 is general funds.
