Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Eastman: Page 1, lines 9 - 12: Delete "The adjutant general may, when appointing an assistant adjutant general, give preference to a person who has served at least five years in the Alaska Army National Guard or the Alaska Air National Guard." Insert "The adjutant general shall, when appointing an 2024-05-08 House Journal Page 2814 assistant adjutant general, give preference to a person who has been a state resident for a minimum of one year preceding the date of appointment. A vacant position must remain open for not less than six months before opening the position to nonresident applicants." Representative Eastman moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Allard objected. Representative Fields moved and asked unanimous consent to set an amendment deadline of 6:27 p.m., today for HB 312. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?" Objection was heard and withdrawn. There being no further objection, Amendment No. 6 was adopted. Representative Saddler moved and asked unanimous consent that HB 312 am be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage. There being no objection, it was so ordered. HB 312 am was read the third time. The question being: "Shall HB 312 am pass the House?"
