AS 18.65 is amended by adding a new section to read: Article 14. Use of Automated License Plate Readers. Sec. 18.65.915. Use of automated license plate readers. (a) An automated license plate reader may not be used by a (1) peace officer; (2) law enforcement agency; or (3) person who (A) has a business relationship with a law enforcement agency; (B) had a business relationship with a law enforcement agency within the previous five years; or (C) is pursuing or anticipates pursuing a business relationship with a law enforcement agency. (b) In this section, "automated license plate reader" means a device used to automatically capture computer-readable images of license plates."
