The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Caroline Malseed of St. Brendan's Episcopal Church. Representative Kopp moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Holy God, Creator of the Universe, we pray that you be present with this legislature of the state of Alaska. Guide them in creating just laws that protect all our citizens and protect them with safety, well-being, and freedom. Endow this legislature with respect for persons of all colors, ethnicities, religions and cultural traditions, national origins, genders and gender identities, and help them create systems of justice that reflect that respect. Help us remember that we are one people and that injustice for one means injustice for all; justice for any means justice for all. In your holy name we pray. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Lincoln. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Kopp moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th legislative days be approved 2019-02-12 House Journal Page 0078 as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, it was so ordered. * * * * * Representative Lincoln introduced, Guest Pages, Edith Spear and Jenna Springer from Barrow and Carrah Hawley from Point Hope. SPEAKER Representative Kopp moved and asked unanimous consent that nominations for Speaker of the House be opened. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Representative Kopp nominated Representative Talerico as Speaker of the House. Representative Stutes nominated Representative Knopp as Speaker of the House. Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent that nominations be closed. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The question being: "Shall Representative Talerico be elected Speaker of the House?"
