Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Neuman be excused from a call of the House today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The Speaker stated that, without objection, Amendment Nos. 60 and 61 would be moved to the bottom of the amendments. Amendment No. 62 was offered by Representative Rasmussen: Page 36, following line 14: Insert new material to read: "It is the intent of the legislature that the University of Alaska consolidate the statewide university system under one chancellor while maintaining community campuses outside of a designated main campus, with the understanding that there may be a need for a three- year transition period for accreditation to be transferred to the main campus, and, not later than December 1, 2019, report to the legislature on cost savings related to the consolidation." Representative Rasmussen moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 62 be adopted. Representative Wool objected. Amendment No. 1 to Amendment No. 62 was offered by Representative Rasmussen: Under "Page 36, following line 14:" Delete all material. Insert new material to read: "It is the intent of the legislature that the Board of Regents consider a plan to transition the University of Alaska from three separately accredited academic institutions into a single accredited institution with multiple community campuses, and that the Board of Regents provide an update to the legislature on the development of such a plan by December 1, 2019."
