The following, which was held in second reading from the April 5                                                                
calendar (page 472), was before the House:                                                                                      
                                                                                                                                
     CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 48(FIN)                                                                                              
     "An Act removing from the exempt service of the state persons                                                              
     who are employed in a professional capacity to make a temporary

     or special inquiry, study, or examination as authorized by the                                                             
     governor and including those persons in the partially exempt                                                               
     service of the state; repealing the authority of the governor or a                                                         
     designee of the governor to authorize higher pay than is otherwise                                                         
     allowable for certain partially exempt employees in the executive                                                          
     branch; and providing for an effective date."                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
Amendment No. 2 was offered by Representatives Wilson, Josephson,                                                               
Johnston, and Fields:                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                                
Page 1, line 6, following "branch;" (title amendment):                                                                        
     Insert "requiring the commissioner of administration to submit                                                           
a report to the legislature;"                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
Page 2, following line 3:                                                                                                       
     Insert a new bill section to read:                                                                                         
"* Sec. 4. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by                                                            
adding a new section to read:                                                                                                   
     TRANSITION. Not later than 30 days after the effective date of                                                             
this Act, the commissioner of administration shall prepare and submit                                                           
to the legislature a report that includes a list of all positions in the                                                        
exempt service of the state under AS 39.25.110 and the partially                                                                
exempt service of the state under AS 39.25.120 and the salary and                                                               
proposed salary schedule for each of those positions. The                                                                       
commissioner of administration shall deliver the report to the senate                                                           
secretary and the chief clerk of the house of representatives and notify                                                        
the legislature that the report is available."                                                                                  
                                                                                                                                
Renumber the following bill section accordingly.                                                                                
                                                                                                                                
Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that

Representative Wilson objected and withdrew the objection.  There                                                               
being no further objection, Amendment No. 1 to Amendment No. 2                                                                  
was adopted,                                                                                                                    
                                                                                                                                
Representative Eastman withdrew the objection.  There being no                                                                  
further objection, Amendment No. 2 as amended was adopted and the
