Respecting the fact that there are diverse religious beliefs represented here today, I appreciate the invitation to open your session with a word of prayer. Dear Lord, Thank you for each person here today that is fulfilling their role in our state government. They care about this state and want the best for it and its people. I pray that you would help each of them to represent their districts well. Help them to be a voice for their constituents, sharing their concerns and dreams for Alaska. 2016-03-30 House Journal Page 1980 In the book of James we are told, if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. On the basis of that promise, I am asking for wisdom on behalf of this group of legislators. Lord, I would also ask you to bless each of them as they walk in honesty and integrity. The prophet Micah wrote, …what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? I ask you to enable each of us to walk in justice, kindness, and humility. I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Talerico.
