George Washington, in one of his first official acts on April 30, 1789, recognized Almighty God who presides over councils of nations and with his aids can supply every human defect. God's benediction can consecrate liberties and happiness for the people of the United States. Government was instituted for essential purpose and recognized God is the Great Author of every public and private good. 2015-04-30 House Journal Page 1166 Abraham Lincoln, on April 30, 1863, proclaimed a national day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer. He encouraged people to depend upon the overruling power of God; people who confess sins, humble themselves, and genuinely repent will be lead to mercy, pardon, and peace. Abraham encouraged us to lean on Holy Scriptures, which have proven through history that nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. My prayer to the body and people of Alaska is Numbers 6:24-26: The Lord bless you and keep you and let His face shine upon you and grant you grace and peace. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Johnson. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the second legislative day of the first special session be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
