Colossians:  `Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and                 
beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,                      
meekness, long suffering; forbearing one another, and                          
forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any:                  
Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.'                                    
                                                                               
Proverbs:  `By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a                   
soft tongue breaketh the bone.'                                                
                                                                               
Father, help us to see that the right balance between mutual                  
respect and effective, principled action requires no diminution                
of either.  Show us the way to achieve that balance both
