01 "An Act relating to designation of state water as outstanding national resource water;                                  
02 designating the Kuskokwim River as outstanding national resource water; and                                             
03 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1. AS 46.03 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
06            Sec. 46.03.085. Outstanding national resource water. (a) Water of the state                                
07       may be designated as outstanding national resource water, as described in federal                                 
08       regulation, by statute.                                                                                           
09            (b)  The legislature designates, and the department shall maintain and protect,                              
10       the Kuskokwim River as an outstanding national resource water of exceptional                                      
11       ecological significance.                                                                                          
12    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
