00 SENATE CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 272(RES) 01 "An Act relating to big game hunts for persons with physical disabilities; and providing 02 for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 LEGISLATIVE INTENT. It is the intent of the legislature that nothing in this Act 07 affect a municipality's existing authority to manage and control municipal land, including 08 regulating the discharge of firearms, to the extent a municipality has that authority. 09 * Sec. 2. AS 16.05.255 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 10 (l) The board may establish annual big game hunting seasons in appropriate 11 areas of the state for persons with physical disabilities. A participant in a hunt 12 established under this subsection must be accompanied by a hunter with a valid 13 hunting license who is capable of retrieving game. 14 * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to
01 read: 02 TRANSITION: REGULATIONS. The Board of Game may proceed to adopt 03 regulations necessary to implement the changes made by this Act. The regulations take effect 04 under AS 44.62 (Administrative Procedure Act), but not before the effective date of this Act. 05 * Sec. 4. Section 3 of this Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c). 06 * Sec. 5. Except as provided in sec. 4 of this Act, this Act takes effect January 1, 2025.
