01 "An Act relating to voter preregistration for minors at least 16 years of age."                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 15.07.040 is amended by adding new subsections to read:                                            
04            (b)  A person may preregister to vote if the person                                                          
05                 (1)  is at least 16 years of age;                                                                       
06                 (2)  is under 18 years of age; and                                                                      
07 (3)  supplies the information required under AS 15.07.060(a) to a                                                       
08 registration official or a voter registration agency, except that, instead of a declaration                             
09 that the applicant will be 18 years of age or older within 90 days after the date of                                    
10       registration under AS 15.07.060(a)(6), the person shall supply a declaration that the                             
11       person will be 18 years of age or older within two years after the date of                                        
12       preregistration.                                                                                                  
13            (c)  The division shall register a person preregistered to vote under (b) of this                            
14       section 90 days before the person reaches 18 years of age and forward to the person a                             
15       registration card.
