00Enrolled SB 76 01 Relating to vehicles abandoned on private property. 02 _______________ 03 * Section 1. AS 28.11.025(a) is amended to read: 04 (a) In addition to removal of an abandoned vehicle under AS 28.11.020, a 05 vehicle that is left standing or parked on private property without the consent of the 06 private property owner and for a period of 30 days [SIX MONTHS] is presumed to be 07 an abandoned vehicle and title to the vehicle may be transferred to the private property 08 owner as provided under this section. A person who claims ownership of an 09 abandoned vehicle under this section shall provide notice of the claim to the vehicle 10 owner of record and to lienholders in the manner prescribed for giving notice by the 11 department under AS 28.05.121. The notice must state the location of the vehicle and 12 the period of abandonment. If the vehicle is not registered in this state or the name and 13 address of the registered or legal owner or lienholder cannot be ascertained, notice 14 shall be given by publication in the manner prescribed in the rules of the court for 15 service of process by publication.

01 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 02 read: 03 APPLICABILITY. AS 28.11.025(a), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, applies to 04 vehicles abandoned on or after the effective date of this Act.
