01 "An Act relating to expiration and renewal of driver's licenses."                                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 28.15.101(c) is amended to read:                                                                   
04 (c)  A driver's license may be renewed by mail or on the department's Internet                                          
05 website if the licensee complies with (a) of this section [, EXCEPT THAT A                                              
06 LICENSE MAY NOT BE RENEWED BY MAIL OR ON THE DEPARTMENT'S                                                               
07 INTERNET WEBSITE] and submits a certified statement from a licensed                                                 
08 physician or optometrist stating that the licensee's vision meets or exceeds the                                    
09 department's standards. The certified statement must be dated within one year of                                    
10       license renewal [IF                                                                                           
11                 (1)  THE MOST RECENT RENEWAL OF THE APPLICANT'S                                                         
12       LICENSE WAS BY MAIL OR ON THE DEPARTMENT'S INTERNET WEBSITE;                                                      
13       OR                                                                                                                
14                 (2)  THE APPLICANT IS 69 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER ON THE                                                   
15       EXPIRATION DATE OF THE DRIVER'S LICENSE BEING RENEWED].
