00 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 17 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to political 02 caucuses in the legislature. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article II, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended by adding a new 05 section to read: 06 Section 22. Political Caucuses. A member of the legislature may not, through 07 a vote in a political caucus made up of members of the legislature, commit to vote for 08 or against a bill, appointment, veto, or other measure pending or proposed for 09 introduction in the legislature; however, a member may vote in a political caucus on a 10 matter directly relating to the selection of an officer of a political caucus or leadership 11 of a house of the legislature. 12 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of the 13 state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the State 14 of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
