00 SENATE BILL NO. 128 01 "An Act requiring legislative approval for certain state charges, rentals, and fees related 02 to aviation; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS. The legislature finds that, because of the vast 07 geographical size of the state and the limited road system in the state, affordable aircraft travel 08 in the state is an essential transportation network that is tremendously important to the 09 socioeconomic well-being of the state's communities and the health of the state's citizens. 10 * Sec. 2. AS 02.15.020 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 11 (d) Notwithstanding AS 44.42.020(b)(5), after the effective date of this Act, 12 the department may not increase a charge, rental, or fee or impose a new charge, 13 rental, or fee under this title without first obtaining legislative approval. 14 * Sec. 3. AS 02.15.090 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
01 (j) After the effective date of this Act, the commissioner may not increase a 02 charge, rental, or fee or impose a new charge, rental, or fee under (a), (h), or (i) of this 03 section without first obtaining legislative approval. 04 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
