00                         HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 1                                                                         
01 Establishing a House Special Committee on Arctic Policy, Economic Development, and                                      
02 Tourism.                                                                                                                
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:                                                                         
04       WHEREAS the strategic location of the state places the state on the forefront of                                
05 Arctic policy; and                                                                                                    
06       WHEREAS economic development is of vital importance to the economy of the state;                                
07 and                                                                                                                     
08       WHEREAS tourism is of increasing importance to the economy of the state; and                                    
09       WHEREAS the legislature should remain well informed about the business climate of                               
10 the state; and                                                                                                          
11       WHEREAS the state must promote business opportunities in the state;                                             
12       BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that a House Special Committee                                   
13 on Arctic Policy, Economic Development, and Tourism is established to study tourism, Arctic                             
14 policy, and opportunities for future economic development of the state's resources; and be it                           
15       FURTHER RESOLVED that the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall                                         
16 determine the number of representatives to be members of the committee and shall appoint                                

01 the members and designate a member or members to chair the committee; and be it                                         
02 FURTHER RESOLVED that the House Special Committee on Arctic Policy,                                                   
03 Economic Development, and Tourism may meet during and between sessions of the Thirty-                                   
04 First Alaska State Legislature and is terminated on the convening of the First Regular Session                          
05 of the Thirty-Second Alaska State Legislature.
