00 SENATE BILL NO. 90 01 "An Act relating to the human services community match program; and relating to the 02 powers of the Department of Health and Social Services." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 47.05.010 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 05 (b) The Department of Health and Social Services may not award a matching 06 grant to a municipality or community for the costs of providing essential human 07 services under former AS 29.60.600 - 29.60.650 or a similar grant program that 08 provides essential human services, including housing, transportation, and distribution 09 centers for food, clothing, and sleeping bags. In this subsection, 10 (1) "essential human services" means social services that are necessary 11 to prevent serious mental or physical hardship to a person who needs the services; 12 (2) "social services" has the meaning given in AS 47.75.060. 13 * Sec. 2. AS 29.60.600, 29.60.610, 29.60.620, and 29.60.650 are repealed.
