00 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 4 01 Proposing amendments to the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature relating to 02 notice of committee meetings. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Rule 23(a), Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature, is amended to read: 05 (a) Written notice of the time, place and subject matter of all meetings of 06 standing, special, and joint committees during a week shall be provided by the person 07 who chairs the committee to the chief clerk or secretary by 4:00 p.m. on the Thursday 08 preceding the week of the meeting, except that, during the first week of the first 09 regular session, notice shall be given not later [LESS] than the day preceding the 10 meeting [24 HOURS NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN]. The person who chairs the 11 committee to which a bill or resolution is first referred shall provide to the chief clerk 12 or secretary written notice of the time and place of the first public hearing on the bill 13 or resolution at least five days before the hearing. However, this requirement may be 14 waived by motion of the person who chairs the committee to which a bill or resolution 15 is first referred if concurred in by majority vote of the full membership of the house. 16 The chief clerk or secretary shall publish and distribute copies of the weekly schedule

01 of committee meetings and of the five-day notice of hearing. 02 * Sec. 2. Uniform Rule 23(d), Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature, is amended to 03 read: 04 (d) The provisions of (a) and (b) of this rule do not apply to a standing, 05 special, or joint committee meeting scheduled after the date a conference committee 06 has been chosen to consider amendments to or differences between versions of the 07 general appropriation act. However, a person who chairs a standing, special, or joint 08 committee shall post written notice of the time, place and subject matter of a meeting 09 not later than the day preceding [AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE] the meeting.
