00 HOUSE BILL NO. 337 01 "An Act requiring the Department of Health and Social Services to provide family 02 support services information to the parent or guardian of a child who is the subject of a 03 report of harm." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 47.17.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 06 (g) As soon a practicable after receiving a report of harm or making a referral 07 of a report of harm, the department shall provide to each parent or guardian of a child 08 who is the subject of the report of harm the following written information as relevant 09 to the family circumstance: 10 (1) geographically indexed material designed to inform the parent or 11 guardian of public and private agencies, services, clinics, and facilities that are 12 available to provide 13 (A) family support and planning services; 14 (B) substance abuse treatment programs;

01 (C) mental health and counseling services; 02 (D) child care services; 03 (E) public assistance benefits; 04 (F) tribal health and family services programs; 05 (G) child support services; 06 (H) language interpretive services; 07 (2) a description of the services that the agencies, services, clinics, and 08 facilities listed in (1) of this subsection offer, and the manner in which the agencies, 09 services, clinics, and facilities may be contacted, including telephone numbers; 10 (3) a description of steps a parent or guardian can take to strengthen 11 the family; 12 (4) the incidence of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, and 13 adverse childhood experiences in the state, including statistically relevant outcomes; 14 (5) other pertinent family support information identified by the 15 department. 16 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 17 read: 18 APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to a report of harm to a child received by the 19 Department of Health and Social Services on or after July 1, 2018.
