01 Establishing a Senate Special Committee on World Trade.

03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE:                                                                                         
04      WHEREAS world trade is of increasing importance to the economy of the state; and                                 
05      WHEREAS legislation enacted by the federal government has far-reaching effects on                                
06 the economy of the state; and                                                                                           
07      WHEREAS there is renewed interest in the United States Congress in exploring the                                 
08 ramifications of federal legislation on the states and their economies; and                                             
09      WHEREAS the legislature should take an active role in exploring opportunities to                                 
10 promote world trade and assist the United States Congress in understanding the effect of                                
11 federal legislation on the state's economy;                                                                             
12      BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate that a Senate Special Committee on World Trade                                      
13 is established to study issues relating to world trade; and be it                                                       
14      FURTHER RESOLVED that the President of the Senate shall determine the number                                     
15 of senators to be members of the committee and shall appoint the members and designate a                                
16 member to chair the committee; and be it                                                                                
17      FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate Special Committee on World Trade may                                            

01 meet during and between sessions of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature and is                                    
02 terminated on the convening of the First Session of the Thirtieth Alaska State Legislature.
