01 "An Act relating to proof and method of mailing notice from an insurer."                                                
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 21.36.260 is amended to read:                                                                      
04            Sec. 21.36.260. Proof and method of mailing notice. If a notice is required                                
05       from an insurer under this chapter, the insurer shall                                                             
06                 (1)  mail the notice by certified mail, return receipt requested,                                   
07       [FIRST CLASS MAIL] to the last known address of the insured [AND OBTAIN A                                         
08       CERTIFICATE OF MAILING FROM THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE];                                                    
09       or                                                                                                                
10                 (2)  transmit the notice by electronic means, to the last known                                         
11       electronic address of the intended recipient, if the insurer can obtain an electronic                             
12       confirmation of receipt by the intended recipient.
