00 SENATE BILL NO. 101 01 "An Act relating to fees for use of state park system facilities; and relating to the sale of 02 merchandise by the Department of Natural Resources." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 41.21.026(a) is amended to read: 05 (a) Notwithstanding (b) of this section, the department may charge or collect a 06 fee [IN A PARK UNIT] for 07 (1) rental of public use cabins or other overnight lodgings; 08 (2) overnight use of a developed campsite; 09 (3) special park permits; 10 (4) competitive and exclusive commercial use permits; 11 (5) noncompetitive and nonexclusive commercial use permits; 12 (6) use of a sewage holding tank dump station; 13 (7) admission to or guided tours of visitor centers and historic sites; 14 (8) use of an improved boat ramp in a park facility developed

01 principally for boat launching; 02 (9) sale of firewood; 03 (10) sale of merchandise for informational or educational purposes 04 related to public use and understanding of parks, including maps, plans, and other 05 graphic materials; 06 (11) use of a developed facility that has developed parking and rest 07 rooms; and 08 (12) presentation or attendance at programs related to natural or 09 cultural history, outdoor skills or education, or other topics concerned with public use, 10 enjoyment, or understanding of parks. 11 * Sec. 2. AS 41.21.026 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 12 (f) The department may sell merchandise for informational, educational, or 13 promotional purposes to support ongoing park operations. Sales of merchandise under 14 this subsection shall be (1) made to a person for the purpose of resale; and (2) priced 15 by the department so as to ensure a fair and reasonable return to the department. In this 16 subsection, "person" has the meaning given in AS 01.10.060. 17 * Sec. 3. AS 41.21.026(a)(10) is repealed.
