01 "An Act relating to sex trafficking."                                                                                   
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 11.66.110(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
04            (a)  A person commits the crime of sex trafficking in the first degree if the                                
05       person                                                                                                            
06                 (1)  induces or causes another [A] person to engage in prostitution                                 
07       through the use of force;                                                                                         
08                 (2)  as other than a patron of a prostitute, induces or causes another [A]                          
09       person who is under 20 years of age to engage in prostitution; or                                             
10                 (3)  induces or causes a person in that person's legal custody to engage                                
11       in prostitution.                                                                                                  
12    * Sec. 2. AS 11.66.130(a) is amended to read:                                                                      
13            (a)  A person commits the crime of sex trafficking in the third degree if, with                              
14       intent to promote prostitution, the person                                                                        
15                 (1)  manages, supervises, controls, or owns, either alone or in                                         

01       association with others, a place of prostitution;                                                                 
02                 (2)  as other than a patron of a prostitute, induces or causes another [A]                          
03       person who is 20 years of age or older to engage in prostitution;                                             
04                 (3)  as other than a prostitute receiving compensation for personally                                   
05       rendered prostitution services, receives or agrees to receive money or other property                             
06       under an agreement or understanding that the money or other property is derived from                              
07       prostitution; or                                                                                                  
08                 (4)  engages in conduct that institutes, aids, or facilitates a prostitution                            
09       enterprise.                                                                                                       
10    * Sec. 3. AS 11.66.130 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
11            (c)  A person does not act with the intent to promote prostitution under (a) of                              
12       this section if the person                                                                                        
13                 (1)  engages in prostitution in violation of AS 11.66.100(a) in a location                              
14       even if that location is shared with another person; and                                                          
15                 (2)  has not induced or caused another person in that location to engage                                
16       in prostitution.                                                                                                  
17    * Sec. 4. AS 11.66.135 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
18            (c)  A person does not institute, aid, or facilitate prostitution if the person                              
19                 (1)  engages in prostitution in violation of AS 11.66.100(a) in a location                              
20       even if that location is shared with another person; and                                                          
21                 (2)  has not induced or caused another person in that location to engage                                
22       in prostitution.
