01 "An Act adding the commissioner of military and veterans' affairs to the membership of                                  
02 the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault."                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 18.66.020(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
05            (a)  The council consists of                                                                               
06                 (1)  four public members appointed by the governor, one of whom shall                                   
07       be from a rural area; the governor may consult with the Alaska Network on Domestic                                
08       Violence and Sexual Assault, a nonprofit corporation, in appointing the public                                    
09       members under this paragraph; the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual                                  
10       Assault shall submit a list to the governor of persons recommended for appointment;                               
11                 (2)  the commissioner of public safety or the designee of the                                           
12       commissioner of public safety;                                                                                    
13                 (3)  the commissioner of health and social services or the designee of                                  
14       the commissioner of health and social services;                                                                   

01                 (4)  the commissioner of education and early development or the                                         
02       designee of the commissioner of education and early development;                                                  
03                 (5)  the attorney general or the designee of the attorney general; [AND]                                
04                 (6)  the commissioner of corrections or the designee of the                                             
05       commissioner of corrections; and                                                                              
06                 (7)  the commissioner of military and veterans' affairs or the                                      
07       designee of the commissioner of military and veterans' affairs.                                               
08    * Sec. 2. AS 18.66.040 is amended to read:                                                                         
09            Sec. 18.66.040. Meetings and quorum. The council shall meet at least four                                  
10       times a year. At least one meeting each year shall include a statewide public                                     
11       teleconference hearing. The time and place of a meeting shall be set by the presiding                             
12       officer or by three members who submit a written request for a meeting to the                                     
13       presiding officer. Six [FIVE] members of the council constitute a quorum.
