00 HOUSE BILL NO. 206 01 "An Act allowing certain state employees to voluntarily take up to three weeks of leave 02 without pay." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 SHORT TITLE. This Act may be known as the Alaska Vacation and Cost Savings 07 Act. 08 * Sec. 2. AS 39.20 is amended by adding a new section to read: 09 Sec. 39.20.285. Voluntary leave of absence without pay. (a) Notwithstanding 10 AS 39.20.310(8), an employee of the state may voluntarily take a leave of absence 11 without pay of up to three weeks each year under this section. The employer shall 12 grant the request for a leave of absence without pay unless the employer determines 13 that granting a request under this section would endanger the health, safety, or welfare 14 of the public. Leave under this section that is unused does not accrue from year to

01 year. 02 (b) Nothing in this section prohibits an employer from granting other leave, 03 including leave without pay, that is authorized by law.
