01 "An Act relating to the registration of leased motor vehicles; and providing for an                                     
02 effective date."                                                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 28.10.108 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05            (m)  A person who leases a passenger vehicle, low-speed vehicle, pick-up                                     
06       truck, truck, or van that is registered in the names of the lessor and the lessee may pay                         
07       the registration fee provided for that vehicle under AS 28.10.421(b)(1)(A) if                                     
08                 (1) the vehicle meets the unladen weight requirement of that section;                                   
09       and                                                                                                               
10                 (2) the vehicle will not be used or maintained for the transportation of                                
11       person or property for hire or for other commercial use.                                                          
12    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2016.
