00 HOUSE BILL NO. 91 01 "An Act relating to operating a motor vehicle in lanes of traffic." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 28.35.140 is amended by adding new subsections to read: 04 (c) A person operating a motor vehicle shall drive in the right lane of the 05 roadway, or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, 06 except when 07 (1) being directed otherwise; 08 (2) overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same 09 direction; or 10 (3) preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into an alley, private 11 road, or driveway. 12 (d) A person operating a motor vehicle on a roadway may not prohibit, 13 impede, or block an overtaking vehicle in the left lane and shall merge into the right 14 lane of traffic when being overtaken by another vehicle. 15 (e) A person who violates (c) or (d) of this section is guilty of an infraction as
01 described in AS 28.90.010(d) and shall be punished by a fine of at least $100.
