00 SENATE BILL NO. 6 01 "An Act providing for funding for school lunch and breakfast; and providing for an 02 effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 STATE FUNDING FOR SCHOOL LUNCH AND BREAKFAST. (a) To supplement 07 the cost of lunch and breakfast provided to each student who is eligible for a free or reduced- 08 price lunch under 42 U.S.C. 1771 - 1784, in addition to public school funding and subject to 09 appropriation, the Department of Education and Early Development shall provide funding to a 10 school district of 15 cents for lunch and 35 cents for breakfast to each eligible student. For 11 each meal, the department shall add an additional amount, expressed in cents and not applied 12 as a cost factor, that is determined by 13 (1) reducing the applicable district cost factor provided in AS 14.17.460 by 14 1.0; and
01 (2) dividing the remainder determined under (1) of this subsection by four; the 02 department shall round to the nearest cent a quotient that is not a whole number. 03 (b) In this section, "district" has the meaning given in AS 14.17.990. 04 * Sec. 2. Section 1 of this Act is repealed June 30, 2015. 05 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
