01 "An Act establishing an interactive social media connection in the electronic bill                                      
02 tracking system of the legislature."                                                                                    
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 24.20.055 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05            (b)  The legislative council shall direct the executive director of the Legislative                          
06       Affairs Agency to establish a social media connection in the electronic bill tracking                             
07       system of the legislature to provide the public with the opportunity to comment on                                
08       public policy issues, bills, and resolutions. The social media connection shall include a                         
09       means for allowing a member of the public to communicate support for or opposition                                
10       to a bill or resolution, a means for allowing a legislator to track public comments                               
11       about a bill or resolution, a system for providing a legislator with immediate electronic                         
12       notice of public comments submitted on a bill or resolution, and a means for a                                    
13       legislator to review public comments about public policy issues and suggestions for                               
14       improving state government.
