00 SPONSOR SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 205 01 "An Act relating to traffic offenses committed in a school zone; and prohibiting 02 changing lanes in a school zone." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 28.05.151(d) is amended to read: 05 (d) The supreme court, in establishing scheduled amounts of bail under this 06 section, and each municipality that establishes or has established a fine schedule under 07 this section shall provide that the scheduled amount of bail or fine, as applicable, for a 08 motor vehicle or traffic offense that is committed in a highway work zone, school 09 zone, or traffic safety corridor shall be double the amount of the bail or fine for the 10 offense if it had not been committed in a highway work zone, school zone, or traffic 11 safety corridor. 12 * Sec. 2. AS 28.35 is amended by adding a new section to read: 13 Sec. 28.35.148. Changing lanes in a school zone. (a) A driver may not change 14 lanes in a school zone equipped with a flashing light when the light is flashing.
01 (b) A driver convicted under this section is guilty of a misdemeanor. 02 * Sec. 3. AS 28.90.030(a) is amended to read: 03 (a) Whenever a person violates a provision of this title or a regulation adopted 04 under the authority of this title within a highway work zone, school zone, or traffic 05 safety corridor, notwithstanding the amount of the fine or the maximum fine set under 06 this title, the fine, or maximum fine, is double the amount provided in this title.
