00 HOUSE BILL NO. 149 01 "An Act making firefighters employed by the state eligible for the presumption of 02 coverage under workers' compensation for disability due to certain diseases." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 23.30.121(f) is amended to read: 05 (f) In this section, "firefighter" means 06 (1) a person employed by a municipal fire department; 07 (2) a member of a volunteer fire department registered with the 08 state fire marshal; 09 (3) a person registered for purposes of workers' compensation 10 with the state fire marshal as a member of a volunteer fire department; or 11 (4) a firefighter employed by the state [HAS THE MEANING 12 GIVEN IN AS 09.65.295]. 13 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 14 read:
01 APPLICABILITY. The presumption of coverage established by this Act applies to 02 claims made on or after the effective date of this Act, even if the exposure leading to the 03 occupational disease occurred before the effective date of this Act.
