01 "An Act providing for the issuance of one business license for multiple lines of business;                              
02 and providing for reissuance of a business license to correct a mistake on the license."                                
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 43.70.020(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
05            (a)  For the privilege of engaging in a business in the state, a person shall first                          
06       apply, on [UPON] forms prescribed by the commissioner, and obtain a license, and                              
07       pay the license fee provided for in AS 43.70.030. A license issued to a firm for a                                
08       particular line of business covers all its operations in the state in the line of business                        
09       regardless of the number of its establishments. A license issued under this subsection                            
10       must include                                                                                                      
11                 (1)  the name and address of the licensee;                                                              
12                 (2)  the lines [LINE] of business to be conducted;                                                  
13                 (3)  the dates for which the license is issued; and                                                     
14                 (4)  the business name to be used by the licensee.                                                      

01    * Sec. 2. AS 43.70.020 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
02            (f)  A person may apply for a business license under (a) of this section                                     
03       covering multiple lines of business. The department shall prepare an application form                             
04       that allows an applicant to list multiple lines of business.                                                      
05    * Sec. 3. AS 43.70.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
06            (e)  A license holder may request reissuance of a business license to correct an                             
07       error on the license once during the period for which the license is valid without                                
08       paying an additional license fee. The expiration date of a license reissued under this                            
09       subsection is the same as that of the original license.                                                           
10    * Sec. 4. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12       TRANSITION. (a) The provisions of AS 43.70.020(f), added by sec. 2 of this Act,                                   
13 relating to business licenses for multiple lines of business apply to applications for or                               
14 renewals of business licenses made on or after the effective date of this Act.                                          
15       (b)  The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development shall                                        
16 develop procedures for persons with multiple business licenses with different renewal dates to                          
17 consolidate the licenses into one business license with multiple lines of business when                                 
18 renewing at least one of the licenses.
