01 "An Act making a special appropriation to the Department of Military and Veterans'                                      
02 Affairs to hire a consulting firm to develop strategies for retention of military                                       
03 installations affected by the next base realignment and closure announcement; and                                       
04 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
06    * Section 1. The sum of $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department                           
07 of Military and Veterans' Affairs to hire a consulting firm to address the current budget                               
08 reduction efforts by the United States Department of Defense and to develop strategies for                              
09 retention of military installations affected by future base realignment and closure                                     
10 announcements, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2012, and June 30, 2013.                                            
11    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
