01 "An Act relating to requirements for persons holding provisional drivers' licenses; and                                 
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 28.15.055 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05            (b)  A person holding a provisional driver's license shall display in the rear                               
06       window of each vehicle operated by the person a moveable sticker issued by the                                    
07       department that identifies that the vehicle is operated by a provisional licensee. The                            
08       department may charge a fee for the issuance of a sticker. Failure to display a sticker                           
09       as required by this subsection is an infraction and may be punished by a fine of not                              
10       more than $200. However, a person charged with violating this section may not be                                  
11       convicted if the person                                                                                           
12                 (1)  has not previously been arrested, charged, or cited for a violation of                             
13       this section; and                                                                                                 
14                 (2)  produces in court proof that the person has obtained and displayed                                 

01       the sticker required by this subsection.                                                                          
02    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2013.
