01 "An Act relating to a peace officer's recording or otherwise conducting a check on the                                  
02 serial number on a firearm."                                                                                            
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 11.61.220 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05            (k)  When securing a firearm under (a)(1)(A)(ii) of this section, a peace officer                            
06       may not record or otherwise conduct a check on a serial number on a firearm absent                                
07       reasonable suspicion to believe that the firearm has been possessed illegally or used in                          
08       the commission of a crime.
